BAHATI: When we flew to France to pick up Bahati I had several "fire/light" names in mind. But I was informed by Wolfgang that my little girl's name would have to be 2 words beginning with an F and a B! Yuck I thought. Pouring over a Swahili dictionary we finally settled on Foma Bahati which means " Budding Good Fortune." Bagahi in Russian also means "rich" so we went with the name. Her call name is "Hottie" and hence, in a round about way we still got to our fire and light theme! |

In one year of showing in the US, Bahati has had 14 Best of Breed wins, two Group 2 placements and one Group 3 placement. In Canada, she has 6 Best of Breed wins, one Group 2 placement and two Group 3 placements. |

| BREEDING AND HEALTH HISTORY: |

Bahati was bred in October to CH Ukukhanya's Kalou who is 12 years old and still with us. He is a full brother to Multi CH Ukukhanya's Scout the Red Baron, who had a very successful showing career in Europe with owner / judge Sigve Berg of Norway. We are expecting great things from this litter and both dogs have superb pedigrees, structure and temperament.

VESTA: Since Ukukhanya means the restoration of light, it is only fitting that we have a dog that is the "keeper of the hearth and sacred flame." This is Vesta and she was named after the Greek goddess in Greek mythology. Vesta is the brightest asteroid in the sky because it is composed of unusual volcanic rock that reflects a remarkable amount of sunlight. Here again is the association with the element fire, light and Ukukhanya's mission. |

"Amazi" from the first litter was bred to "Scout" owned by Ginny and Nelda Vaughn of Globe Kennels. This cross produced " Dice" who went to Belgium to live with Dorothy McGoldrick of Villagedog Kennels (www.villagedogs.be).
She bred "Dice" to multi-champion Ikimba Waitimu which produced "Nelson" who went on to win Best of Breed at Crufts in 2011. "Nelson" was bred to Villagedogs KaNani Pele and this produced "Vesta". When "Vesta" was 8 weeks old we flew to Belgium to pick her up and she now lives with us in Montana. She, therfore, is "Amazi's" great granddaughter.
